Denham was in great condition considering the recent appalling weather with the greens performing well despite recent hollow tining. The teams experienced sun, wind, rain & hail during the course of the day! The match was played as ever in good spirit but in what is becoming a familiar tale we had to give lots of shots.
In the morning 4BBB, the AERO prevailed by 4.5-1.5, and so retained the venerable Keith-Davies Cup. The outstanding carvery lunch clearly fortified our team as we won the Piercey-John Quaich for the Greensomes by 3.5-2.5. During lunch our captain remarked that the fixture was first played 77 years ago to the day and hinted that some members may even have played in it! All in all it was a very good day.

After wins in 2022 and 2023, the RAFGS team were looking to achieve a rare hat-trick in the match against West Hill. The course was in great condition despite the amount of rain over the winter and the forecast rain on the day only arrived towards the end of the match. As always, the match was played in great spirit and most of the games were close - but unfortunately our only winners were Stu Butler and Graham Pearson, as the RAF lost 5-1. After a splendid late lunch, the West Hill match organiser Richard Owen was delighted to receive the Wg Cdr James Webster Salver for the club.

In the wake of Storm Kathleen, fierce gales swept Burnham & Berrow and made golf incredibly tough. However, our scratch players beat Old Shirburnians 2-1 in the first round then Old Millfieldians by the same score in the quarter finals. A strong Army team awaited in the semi-finals but received the same fate before our gallant team just managed to get the better of the Leatherjackets in the final to win also by 2-1.
This was a stellar performance. Everyone played well but John Blanks and Aaron Hares deserve special mention for winning each of their matches. A jubilant Dave Marshall awarded the Hayward Bowl to Aaron on his first appearance in the team.
