The RAF Officers Golf Association was established in 1921, only 3 years after the formation of the RAF, and became the RAF Golfing Society in 1945 when membership of the the Society was opened to all ranks.
The principal event celebrating the Society's Centenary took place on 11th September 2021 at Moor Park Golf Club. Despite having to be re-arranged twice due to COVID constraints, the the event was attended by no less than 21 invited representatives of clubs and societies with whom we have enjoyed long standing relationships. On a shotgun start, 24 teams of 4 enjoyed a wonderful round on the High course. After the golf, 113 diners sat down to an excellent late lunch, at which our President, Sir Patrick Hine, and his good friend David Harrison – both past Captains of the R&A – were excellent after-dinner speakers.
A second Centenary event was held at Coxmoor Golf Club, principally for those who were unable to attend the Moor Park event. Again the format was a team event in groups of 4, followed by a late lunch. The event proved so popular that it was agreed that we should add a similar event, held at Coxmoor, to our annual calendar.
